MAT 135: Analytical Reasoning for Health Professionals Goal: To hone the analytical reasoning skills needed for students to be successful in health care professions. Content: The course will begin with a review of important skills such as order of operations, proportions and percentages, and arithmetic involving fractions and decimals. Next, students will learn basic algebra principles such as solving linear equations and working with exponential and logarithmic functions. Finally, students will learn to solve various types of problems pertaining to health professionals such as unit conversions, dosage calculations, and reading and understanding graphs. This course is intended to satisfy the Mathematical Proficiency Requirement for pre-nursing students and is not a substitute for MAT 130 for students in other majors.
