MUS 280: Advanced Harmony and Tonality Goal: This course will focus on a more advanced understanding of the compositional process in common practice Western music as well as further developing the skills of sight-singing and ear training. Content: The goal of this course is to expose students to more advanced harmonic procedures, such as secondary dominants, modulations, and borrowed chords, as well as techniques used in modern music. These goals will be accomplished by analyzing music as well as the writing of short musical examples and more extended compositions. Prerequisite(s): MUS 182 . Credit: 3 Degree Level: Undergraduate
