EDU 345: Foundations of Teaching Writing


Goal: To understand and practice science-based strategies of teaching writing in the elementary school setting. 
Content: EDU 345 explores the science behind effective writing instruction, practice, and assessment.  This course also examines effective integration of writing across other content areas.  Students will practice the effective application of these strategies in the context of the required lab associated with this course. 
Lab Hours: One 3-hour session each week (14 week minimum)
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Teacher Education Program; EDU 219  and EDU 335 .
Credit: 4
