The Bachelor of Science degree in Biology provides a clear foundational pathway for students intending careers in the life sciences, health professions and advanced graduate studies in a multiplicity of disciplines. The undergraduate curriculum in the Department of Biology is also designed to provide an intensive educational experience for students in other disciplines who are interested in biology. The program is enriched by our 100 acre Arboretum, where students engage in field studies related to ecology and environmental science, and by research experiences with faculty mentors, who encourage students to expand their studies beyond the classroom. Students are also encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities like Beta Beta Beta, the Biological Honor Society, and to leverage their biology education in the service of the larger community through experiential learning coursework offered as stand-alone experiences, or incorporated into select coursework.
