POL 301: Presidential Campaigns and Elections Goal: To familiarize students with the relevant political science literature on campaigns and elections and to apply that knowledge to the contemporary elections, with a particular focus on the race for the presidency. Content: This course will cover the nomination process for both major political parties in the United States, as well as the general election, both for the presidency and for down-ballot races. Topics will include institutions, rules and established patterns of behavior. Students will be expected to follow the general election campaign closely, as we will examine significant events through the lens of existing literature. Prerequisite(s): None Credit: 3 Degree Level: Undergraduate
