NUR 200: Introduction to Professional Nursing Goal: The goal of this course is to introduce the student to the profession of nursing. Content: This course is designed to familiarize the potential nursing student with the roles of the professional nurse and the student’s interface with the health care system. An examination of nursing practice settings, career opportunities as well as legal and ethical decisions encountered by nurses will be examined. The scope of nursing practice in Georgia will be examined. In addition, an overview of the nursing program and expectations will be discussed. A service-learning project will be an integral part of the course experience enabling students to focus on a critical health care need. Taught: Spring Prerequisite(s): None; this course may be taken prior to entering the nursing program. Credit: 1 Degree Level: Undergraduate
